Formal–Informal Integration in Urban Solid Waste Management for a Sustainable Circular Economy: A Systematic Literature Review

The rising concern for the environment which attributed towards sustainable development goals, formal-informal integration of urban solid waste management has in recent times received a lot of attention. The study was conducted from 10yrs (2015-2025) literature through PRISMA framework and Scientometric analysis identified different dimensions, geographical coverage, various outlets of research and analysis of keywords. Asia tends to have the highest number of research on formal-informal integration of urban solid waste management and also found that empirical studies are comparatively more than theoretical ones. Lastly the future scope of research is singled out and specified. The scholastic study provides useful understanding for future researchers, policy makers, regulators and investors which act as a reference point.
