Abstract

Mindfulness Leaders training is an emerging management research area and the topic is being examined in terms of its context, anecdotal references and outcomes. The leader mindfulness is a phenomenon, the engagement process, the theoretical dispositions and intervening factors have not been examined as a research consideration. The purpose of the study is to explore growing interest among researchers in leader’s mindfulness as an institutional intervention and to provide literature for studying its uses in organizations. The study attempts to trace out around 50 theoretical articles from prominent websites like ResearchGate, Jstor, google scholar and other platforms on leaders’ mindfulness and map the articles/authors’ methodology of last 5 years and analyze the understanding of what constitutes leaders’ mindful behavior. The review will be categorized into following areas, namely, (i) mindfulness and psychological well-being, (ii) conceptual understanding of leaders’ mindfulness, (iii) employee performance, (iv) impact on organizational change and transformation of organization and (v) Leader’s mindfulness during safety and reliability in organizational processes. While there is considerable growing research interest about the leaders’ mindfulness and leaders’ health outcomes, stress related issues while handling gender inequity, role inequity, and power imbalances which might influence the leadership behavior to become mindful. These areas have not been dwelled in this paper and these outcomes are of immense importance which still need to examined and studied. The paper provides a basis for business leaders to become aware of those leadership and behavioral traits and express the mindfulness traits in various situations that can enhance organizational performance.
