Abstract

Through a review of the relevant literature, the purpose of this research is to investigate the ways in which students' socioeconomic background affects their academic performance. Educators, parents, and legislators all place a significant emphasis on academic performance since it is a reflection of the information and abilities that kids learn while they are in school. The socioeconomic status of a person or group is a social position that is influenced by a variety of characteristics, including the degree of education, money, and employment of the individual or group. The educational level, occupation, and financial means of parents are significant factors that have a significant effect in determining the academic success of their children. According to a complete analysis of the research that have been conducted before, socioeconomic variables, such as the level of education, profession, and income of the parents, have a substantial impact on the academic performance of pupils. In general, students who come from more rich socioeconomic backgrounds likely to achieve academic achievement, while students who come from less affluent circumstances often encounter obstacles that reduce their chances of being successful in school. The significance of these results lies in the fact that to overcome inequities, specific treatments are required. This study may be used by policymakers and stakeholders in order to establish programs and policies that promote fairness. Some examples of such programs and policies are scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and expanded vocational training in order to boost future employment chances. The emphasis that students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds have on immediate employment may be alleviated by the implementation of such programs, which would provide them the opportunity to continue additional study.
